Chromatographic chamber for plates

Glass chambers for developing Sorbfil plates after sample and standard solution application. Made of chemically resistant glass; the chambers for plates up to 10×10 and 15×15 cm feature a divider rib at the bottom that holds plates in place and reduces eluent consumption. The chamber for plates up to 20×20 cm is rib-less.

§ A — DESCRIPTION

Description

Chromatographic chambers are the standard glassware for developing TLC plates: the plate is placed in a chamber containing the eluent, the chamber is closed with the lid, and the plate is left to develop until the solvent front rises. The chambers for plates up to 10×10 and 15×15 cm ship with a ground-glass lid and a divider rib at the bottom that fixes the plate and reduces eluent consumption.

The size in a chamber's name is the maximum plate size it takes: a chamber for plates up to 15×15 cm also holds smaller formats. Overall dimensions and mass are in the specifications; full dimensions are on the drawings below.

Allowed glass defects: internal bubbles or foreign inclusions up to 3 mm, mild wall warping, glass-flow lines — these are characteristic of laboratory glass and do not affect chamber performance.

Chambers marked «(К)» are silicone-glued; this construction is used at sizes where one-piece glass is impractical.

Operating conditions:

  • chamber-to-liquid temperature differential — up to 35 °C;
  • do not heat; protect from impact;
  • do not store alkali, fluoride salts or strong oxidisers inside the chamber.

Kit contents: chamber, lid, passport.
