02Silica gel
Fractionated wide-pore silica gel for self-coating TLC plates and for thin-layer work that falls outside the production plate range. Two narrow fractions — 5–17 μm for analytical TLC and 8–12 μm for high-efficiency separations — the same adsorbent base used on Sorbfil's own ПТСХ-АФ / ПТСХ-П plates.
§ A — DESCRIPTION
Silica gel is the workhorse of thin-layer chromatography: a wide-pore, chemically pure, polar adsorbent whose surface silanols drive the selectivity of the separation. The fractionated bulk material lets the lab make plates in custom formats, coat non-standard layer thicknesses, run preparative-scale separations, or work with thermally unstable analytes for which the production plates are not a fit.
