Diapak concentrating cartridges are used to prepare samples ahead of mycotoxin determination by thin-layer chromatography. The cartridge is an inert shell holding a sorbent bed packed tightly and evenly between two porous filters.
Depending on the properties of the target compounds, their amount and concentration, and the properties of the matrix solution, one cartridge or several connected in series may be used — with identical or with different sorbents.
Diapak bodies are made of polypropylene and come either as split capsules with a fixed 1 mL sorbent bed (Type-1) or as 10 mL columns partly filled with sorbent, typically 3 mL (Type-2). Type-2 cartridges carry the digit 3 in their name (ДИАПАК А-3, ДИАПАК АУ-3, ДИАПАК П-3); the rest are Type-1.
