Derivatising reagent for thin-layer analysis of volatile histamines in food raw materials — primarily fish and its processed products. The solution of hydrogen bromide in acetic acid converts biogenic amines into derivatives that can be developed and detected on a TLC plate.
Applications
§ A — DESCRIPTION
The reagent is used in the determination of biogenic amines (histamine, tyramine, cadaverine and related compounds) in animal-origin products. The sample is treated with the hydrogen-bromide-in-acetic-acid solution; the resulting derivatives are applied to a Sorbfil plate, developed and detected in daylight or UV light.
Unlike the mycotoxin reference materials, the reagent does not carry a State Register entry and is not subject to formal metrological attestation — it is a working chemical, not a reference standard. Supplied on request; volume is agreed with the customer based on the method and the analysis batch size.
